Is slugging consists of putting snails on your face?

No, no snails were harm.

A couple of months ago, I discovered a Tiktok trend about “slugging” in the beauty community. At first, I thought it was kind of gross and will be messy because you are putting Vaseline on your face for beauty benefits. I am pretty sure it would be uncomfortable.
But knowing myself, I would love to try it because I can get Vaseline easily and since I have also read about the “claimed” beauty benefits from slugging, I decided to try it for 3 days.

I used this original 100% pure repairing jelly from Vaseline which only cost me below RM 5. But I also heard that instead of using Vaseline you can slug your face using other products that won’t be too harsh on your skin. But I use Vaseline anyways and I already told myself that if anything happens on the first day, I will stop using it.
DAY 1
After I have completed my nighttime skincare routine, I applied the vaseline before I went to bed. I endured the feeling of putting the thick and weird smell of vaseline on my face because of a Tiktok video. It doesn’t settle easily on my face because I feel a little uncomfortable but the magic happened in the morning. My face feels soooo soft and plump. I don't know what really happen but the layering thing that most dermatologists explained about slugging is true!
DAY 2
I did it again. Feeling happy and refreshed the next morning. One thing that I don’t really like putting vaseline on my face is the smell. It smells like clay and it feels hot for a second when I apply it all over my face. I think using the right skincare routine before putting on vaseline really helps in keeping the moisture and hydrates my skin well. The slugging locks all the products perfectly and gives a quick fresh morning look!
DAY 3
Because I was so happy with the result, I did some more research about slugging. The other product that can be used other than Vaseline is Aquaphor or any product consists of petroleum jelly. I also came across an article stating that using vaseline is good for dry skin but not oily skin. I have combination skin and I kind of worried about the “building up of oil” on my skin. I decided to make this the last day of experimenting with slugging.
I just stick to using vaseline for my feet and any dry spots other than my face. Oh yes, I use Vaseline for my mani/padi too! It makes your nails stronger. I learn this from a nail salon that I went to 4-5 years ago!
VERDICT:
If I want a quick smooth and plump-moisture face in the morning, I will use it right away before going the bed the night before. Using it as a daily routine is a major red flag because it might clog up pores or build up oil which is a no-no.
